About the project
Network of Expert Centres Providing Inclusion in Tertiary Education
The aim of the project is to create a network of collaborating institutions providing practical service to persons with special needs in the area of tertiary education, scholarly work and research. Included in this network will be a virtual environment for sharing library resources, databases and other electronic tools and information technologies to be used by these institutions as a means of coordinating the services providing universal accessibility of education.
This new network should be further used as a foundation for modernization of didactic methods not only at Masaryk University, but also at other partner universities (Palacký University in Olomouc, University of Hradec Králové, University of West Bohemia in Pilsen, etc.), for enhancing competencies of persons providing services to target groups, academic staff and other employees of universities, and for cooperation with primary and secondary schools as regards providing consulting and practical services to pupils with special needs. The main objectives and activities can be defined as follows:
- Creating a network of collaborating institutions providing practical service to persons with special needs in the area of tertiary education, scholarly work and research.
- Creating shared libraries, databases and other electronic tools and information technologies to be used by these institutions as a means of coordinating the services providing universal accessibility of education.
- Using this network of institutions as a foundation for modernization of didactic methods not only at Masaryk University, but also at other universities, i.e. for creating service modules innovating the study programmes at Masaryk University (utilization of shared information technologies, sharing documents, implementation of teaching in Czech Sign Language).
- Providing educational programmes to people providing services to persons with special educational needs in the area tertiary education, scholarly work and research (physical accessibility of the educational environment, electronic accessibility of documents and of the virtual educational environment, creating alternative formats and specific language modules).
- Providing educational courses aimed at enhancing competencies of academic staff and other employees of universities in communication with persons with special needs.
- Providing cooperation between universities and primary and secondary schools as regards providing consulting and practical services to pupils with special needs, with special regard to the transition between the individual stages of education.
