University of West Bohemia
The Support Centre for Students with Special Needs at MU cooperates with two of the specialist facilities at the University of West Bohemia.
1. The Section of Artificial Intelligence at the Department of Cybernetics of the Faculty of Applied Sciences, University of West Bohemia in Pilsen, has long been involved in a research of automatic processing of the Czech language and its application for the benefit of persons with special needs in general (e.g. Automatic Reading of Educational Texts for Vision Impaired Students, the Czech Sign Language online dictionary, project in collaboration with the Czech Television and SpeechTech - "Elimination of the language barriers faced by the handicapped viewers of the Czech Television") and transfers the research results into user applications. The collaboration will therefore proceed mainly in terms of further development of the dictionary of Czech and Czech Sign Language.
2. The Department of Education of the Faculty of Education, University of West Bohemia in Pilsen conducts a long-standing research into specific learning disorders. Considering the existing experience in this area, the collaboration is planned to involve mainly the innovation of the diagnostic battery for specific learning disorders.
The partner's participation in activities:
- Development of Czech Sign Language and its online lexicographical processing (as a part of key activity Innovation in accessibility of study materials)
- Development of didactic and technological instruments for teaching (as a part of key activity Innovation in didactic tools and methods)
