About the conference

The LangSkills II project partnership is happy to invite you to the project closing conference.

 

Aim of the conference

The aim of the conference is to create a forum for dialogue, exchange of ideas and experiences in the field of (sign) language teaching and learning and internationalisation of deaf and hard of hearing learners. It is also a space to disseminate the results of the LangSkills II project.

Topics

  • Learners’ reflections on their language learning journeys
  • Motivation, learner autonomy and language learning styles and strategies
  • CEFR and sign languages 
  • Experience and experiences of sign language interpreters and speech-to-text reporters in educational settings

When: 12th and 13th of September 2024

  • in person – Teiresiás - Středisko pro pomoc studentům se specifickými nároky, Komenského nám. 2, 602 00 Brno
  • online – platform will be specified 

Target audience

The conference provides space for learning and sharing for various interest groups: 
  • deaf and hard of hearing learners who learn a foreign language
  • language teachers who work with DHH students, future teachers
  • interpreters, trainee interpreters
  • speech-to-text reporters
  • service providers
  • sign language linguists
  • members of deaf clubs, deaf and hard of hearing organizations 
  • and anyone interested in the conference’s focus

We are happy that ASNEP (Association of the Deaf, Hard of Hearing and their Friends, Czech Republic) and Accessible EU have partnered with the LangSkills consortium to support our event.

The event is organised as part of the LangSkills II project. It is free of charge.

Please register online by 15 June 2024.

Accommodation and meals

Participants are responsible for their own travel and accommodation arrangements and payment.
Coffee breaks (coffee, tea, soft drinks, small snacks, sweets) are provided onsite for free for the participants.
